Help identify artist?

Its a victorian oil portrait from of a woman with red roses in her hair that my dad picked up in scotland i was hoping someone could help me identify if this was painted by a well known artist or not, on the front of the picture in the bottom right corner its signed but i cant read the signiture all i can make out is the initials, its "B..... G......" Where iv put dots its very small writing, on the frame at the back it also has writing which is hard to read, the bits i can make out look like this. "Miss Gornie" or "Gorme"
"..nethergate" "Bronzey slip". I hope someone can shed a bit of light on this for me as i havnt a clue about art or antiques, thanks in advance for any reply. Declan
